How to Get Rich, Vibrant Buttercream Colours (Without Over‑Mixing)
Share
If you’ve ever mixed a buttercream colour and felt disappointed that it looked too pale, you’re not alone. One of the simplest ways to achieve deeper, more vibrant colours is to let your buttercream rest.
After adding your gel food colour, allow the buttercream to sit for 20–30 minutes. During this time, the pigments continue to develop, giving you a richer, more even shade without needing to add extra colour.
This technique is especially helpful for deeper tones like black, red, navy and purple — colours that often look muted at first but intensify beautifully as they rest.
It’s a small step, but it makes a big difference in your final result.
